She dreams of open skies
Where the stars are diamond bright
In fields where the mist lies
A fine gauze of pale moonlight
A spiral staircase that reaches
Far above the clouds
Where heaven waits with open arms
To gather in the crowds
There is a sign that points the way
It's written in pale smoke
What it says I cannot say
Maybe it's all a cosmic joke
At the water's edge
You might stop and stare
At your sad reflection
Simply dancing there
These feelings often make
Their presence felt each time
With stars over my right shoulder
I can see them in my mind
They meander with my broken thoughts
That climb just like these stairs
That rise and rise into the sky
And take all my dreams and cares
This stairway goes beyond the moon
It lights the way beyond
Where dark magic weaves its' subtle spells
With a wave of its' willow wand
'til at last the piper calls the tune
And sets aside his pipes
Then beckons all towards the edge
Into that fateful night
For the stairway is another road
Where shadows grow so tall
And though she holds her lantern high
They never fade at all
She climbs that spiral staircase
Reaching far beyond the clouds
Where heaven waits with open arms
To gather in the crowds
Where heaven waits with open arms
To gather in the crowds...

Thank you for your entry
Wonderful imagery and very lyrical. It was almost as if I was reading song lyrics. Nice flow and structure. Thanks for sharing
Good luck
God Bless

Quite well written though I felt you used 'stairway' a bit too much. There could be other ways to refer to your subject which would make your already rich poem all the more poetic. I hope my criticism is not offensive as I do appreciate your art. Nice job

wow, this is amazing. I haven't been reading much lately but I absolutely love this poem. It's enchantingly beautiful. You are quite talented and only becoming moreso. Lovely indeed. may have to read this one again.
