darkness of winter

Weaving in and out of shadows,
darkness of winter her only companion,
stumbling from one path to another,
knowing not where one began,
fearful of where the other will end.

Icy tendrils
clutching at her heart,
soul searching,
for the One
that will lead her from the dark.

But the One that she searches for
ceased to exist.
The One that promised to make her His,
nevermore to share in a passion’s kiss.

He is now gone,
without any reason.
His life has moved along,
leaving her heart
frozen
by the winter’s blast.
Regardless of the season,
the chill will forever last.

Moonlight guarding over her,
embracing her body against harm.
A block of ice
surrounding her heart,
refusing the entrance
of love
of sharing
giving,
no longer allowing the embrace
of life’s charm.

Her soul keeps searching.
Her heart will know when she spots Him,
the One who promised her warmth
with His gentle kiss,
His soft touch.
The One that left her
longing
for so much.
