In the little village of Elstow,
where John Bunyan once did walk.
Quaint cottages are in abundance
and give tourists so much talk.
The Moot Hall is just across the road,
I can see it from my dwelling.
It lies on Elstow village green;
Many historic tales it's telling.
For many years there's been a festival,
held on the village green.
You can watch the grand procession
and the crowning of May Queen.
On the first Sunday of each month,
the car boot sale's the main attraction.
There are plants and lots of stalls to see,
all for your satisfaction.
We no longer have a village shop,
but our post office trade is thriving.
We hope it will stay open,
for that end we all are striving.
For it's part of our community,
like our pubs and village hall.
So if you're in the area one day,
give the Red Lion and Swan a call.
Author notes
It's not quite as rustic these days as shown in this old picture.
