My Fragility

If I dance in the sunshine,
will the clouds come to find me?
Am I just another good girl,
soul saved, head bowed reverently,
waiting for the next downpour ?

Or do I wait on His promises,
stand firm while lightning strikes,
unafraid while shaking in my boots
that this faith I proclaim,
in my humaness, will fail me ?

My fragility leads me to reach out,
screaming my submission even in my weakness.
I do not have to carry the loads
for His shoulders carry me and my chains
fall away even as I see the cross
He carries is for me.

Wow, you got me a non believer just awe struck by this poem. amazing would fit it nicely. The idea that faith is more then just saying so but the feeling of commitment to it, to stand in a lightning storm just to call out to God, that is a wonder.

How he carries you is a mystery, how he brings you hope is a wonder, how he makes you smile is a blessing...

Faith is believing in something without seeing. It is not a feeling but more like a mind/heart set; a physical act. It is trust and love. We all can understand that. Thank you for your wonderful words. D

I'm a big beleiver in god myself and this poem is beautiful the way it flows and how it doesn't durive from the subject. I like the I do not have to carry the loads for His shoulders carry me and my chains fall away even as I see the cross He carries is for me.
Which everyone should realize that.. Beautiful job

You leave me thinking, at this point in my life I face this and I see it in my friends lifes too. Its so wonderful to know that as I feel broken I am whole in God. All good things come from Him, who fills our empty hearts.

This was beautiful Debby. This is my favorite line: 'screaming my submission even in my weakness'. It's easy to forget we don't have to do it alone....

This is very very beautiful you know. Indeed, Christ does carry the load that we ourselves carry too. Indeed, everyday is a crucifixion of sorts, for us all.  The ending of the piece where it states that 'you do not have to carry the loads, for His shoulders carry me,' this is not realized by many people, who feel alone and isolated, and DO carry their loads alone.

For God, to them is non-existent. If only they realized. Your piece is thought-provoking. I have a friend who feels isolated right now, he has lost everything and finds that God is very very far away... :(

    Beautiful Writing

This is something I learned myself. I am going thru quite a trial and I was thinking that God never gives us more than we can bear..then it hit me.. We can bear it because of HIM.. because HE carries the loads.. but we have to let Him. If this can be of any help to your friend.. feel free to let him read it. I will offer prayers in his behalf. Thank you for your thoughtful comments. God bless. Debby

Yes, dear friend, even in the sunshine those clouds will return and find us again. It is the nature of this present life.

Praise to our Lord, He will be there when they return just as He was there the last time and the time before. The more the storms come, the more we can run to Him and give Him our fears and burdens.

He is faithful to deliver us one more time.

    This is beautiful.

    Love and hugs - joanne

You have a typo in the final line - I guess you mean to say "carries it" not carries is" and I think you should have "downpour" rather than "down pour"

I meant to say what I said in the last line but I see what you meant. It was not clear. I hope the comma fixes that and I fixed the downpour. Your comments and helpful are always welcome. Much appreciated. Blessings. Debby

this seems as though written to question your faith...as if you think you understand it but seek reassurance. An interesting piece.

Hi, It is more of a statement expressing how very human I am. My faith is very strong but I am affirming and stating that I know my strength comes from Him alone. It is not me. It is Him in me that carried / carries me through everything. I appreciate your comments. Blessings. Debby
