Agony and Ecstasy

My sweet love, the one who holds my heart
you've shown to me a world of passion undefined
I gave you every treasure I could find
Now I offer one last gift, words just for you

"Warmly scented thoughts
of honey dipped fantasies
whispers of my mind
invading my tranquility
words which hold me captive
infiltrating sanity
malicious schemes of yours
mistrust, scourge of humanity"

I am whole again, healed of my pain
ahhh, the sweet ecstasy of release
as my soul soars free again

Author notes

The day you betrayed my trust was the day that I lost all my trust for you. I believed that you would take care of my heart and that's why I left it with you. Well, I am taking it back because at this very moment I can't trust you with my heart in fear that you will hurt me once more. Unknown

Anyone who hasn’t experienced the ecstasy of betrayal knows nothing about ecstasy at all. - Jean Genet

I chose to be inspired by two of the given quotes as I believe that the loss of trust is such an integral part of betrayal.

Sometimes it is best to say what's on our minds and then let go. Many times it's the only way to fly free. I love the fact that there is a lifting of the spirit in the end. When I was younger I thought that love should never hurt. But the hurt comes when we can honestly say that we've never known love. Beautiful work here poet. A writ that surely all can relate to. I wish you the best in the challenge.

    Much Love ♥
