was it worth it?
what you gained when you played Judas
and sold me for a purse of silver coins?
I will never trust you again,
neither will those who know you.
to all of us you are dead.
what will you buy with that money,
that is equal to the value
of what you lost forever?
I hope it will last a lifetime
I hope it will lift you up at your moments of despair
I hope it will share in your joys
and walk with you in dark places.
that's what a friend does,
and that you no longer have.

Yes! This poem depicts the height of betrayal!
I once wrote a poem from what I thought might be the perspective of Judas, and the ultimate pain he must have suffered being the one chosen by God to betray Jesus. Judas really had no choice but to do what he did, it was written. My heart mourns for him yet, at the same time I tend to despise him for his actions.
He hung himself for what he knew was wrong. Your poem asks questions that need no answers, for Jesus and Judas both knew.
Excellent work here poet. Betrayal in the truest form. Congrats on your Honorable Mention.
Much Love & Respect ♥

the tragedy of it is that if judas had done nothing, events would have unfolded exactly as they did. Jesus had already resigned himself to his fate, and identified himself to the soldiers that came to arrest him. In the end, Judas only betrayed himself. at that moment nobody trusted him. not the desciples, who had already been warned by Christ, not the Pharasees, who put him up to it, for they knew too that he would just as easily betray them, and not the Romans, who saw his actions as cowardly beyond the pale.
Judas died utterly alone. -

The saddest part of it all is that it was written to play out this way. Had I been Judas I would have been haunted with the thoughts; "why me, why did I have to be the one eternally separated from God?" In all actuality Judas did as he was suppose to and had no choice. I agree with what you've said in your poem and your response to my comment.
