The crippled silence you hold is bitter,
To withstand the cruelty that has severed your soul.
Every whip is like a knife producing with it your strength,
And it's melting what little faith you had in store.
Your crimson eyes, held hesitantly, stole glances
At the evil you have come to love.
Every line he has dented, every purity he has darkened.
Innocence swept away by vicious attempts to burden you.
Names that he throws at you, harmless you appear to them,
But burn like a candle within, deteriorating your significance.
And as he inches towards you, you breathe with what little left of
Air you have, struggling to speak through clenched teeth
And quivering lips.
--The pain is numbing, the touch is stone cold.
Icy breath, and solid intentions as he smiles
And taunts like the coward he is.
Tightened fists, and anger radiating from him in
Rays that throw a thousand piercing swords into you.
Have you had enough, you tell yourself,
Is there anywhere left you can go?
Your questions batter you more than his kicks,
And at once you routinely escape to the image you often run to.
A happy face of you: a smile with full teeth,
And eyes that are bright as stars.
Rosy cheeks, and skin without scars nor hidden lies.
No bruises, only holiness that echoes out of every hidden crevice
That's built indestructibly within you.
And so he continues,
Until every inch of you is broken,
Save for your beating heart
And bloody smile.
