unspoken convictions make shallow graves

I stumbled over
selfish motivations--

forcing comfort
and vulnerability
into opposition.

activists vowed
they couldn’t
coexist

but I swore
utopia was tangible

and silence wasn’t
always lethal.

then skeletons proved me
(dead) wrong--

begging from graves
of unspoken convictions

for today’s generation
to eradicate polite submission;
embracing our power:

words.

Author notes

50 words.
Mostly inspired from:
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter" -MLK Jr.
but also from the feel/message of both quotes.

    I love this. Your vocabularly is constant and well thought out throughout the whole piece, and your spacing works well. I really like the idea of;
    "and silence wasn’t
    always lethal."
    Not something I'd have thought about before I read it but it makes perfect sense. Good luck hun
