The Journey

Every other day I sit and gaze up at the stars
Wondering if life has a path set out for me
A journey I must take, one I’m already on
One that leads me to you, and takes you with me
Like a road trip, you’re my hitchhiker
I didn’t know you, didn’t expect you
And yet there you were, and I stopped
If only for a moment in my journey
The car, like my life, my passage
Taking you along, and sharing with you
My life, my world, my love
My love? Oh! Funny to think of it
I thought it had gone
Until I saw you…
What is it about you?
That you found a way under my skin
Silently studying me
A subtle smile and deep laugh
And all of a sudden, I can’t get you out of my mind.
These thoughts, like so many others
Danced around among the stars
As silently I watched the night blend into day
Soft hues of blue, purple, pink, orange
The air crisp, cool, calm
The world had all but melted away into silence
And I seemingly sat alone
But not for long, kept company by the thoughts of you
Sweetly breathing in my ear, brushing through my hair
Ahh, just the wind… but it was comforting
And as the promise of another day hung before me
I just smiled
Because its you that will share it with me.
