Words find meanings
beneath hands of the poet
and come to life,
touching so many.
Thoughts travelling
to quiet places of contemplation
to so many destinations
writers never see.
But what of the words
giving meaning to poets;
so much like men assigning meaning
to their creators,
an unavoidable paradox.
Words have qualities
as the notion of air,
they can still anger
and gently caress the spirit
living wonder
existing everywhere;
invisible until felt or
experienced.
Words define the poet:
champion for peace,
carrier of love songs
foe of oppression;
character of the person
and their marks upon the world.
Declaration of person and art,
a perfect circle;
lines drawn in the sands of the soul.
