Unrequited Happiness

Like some poison you gripped me after the first sip;
Leaving my dying, on your IV drip.
Short measured doses that kept me hanging on.
Caring not to give them, for terribly long.
And oh how I long, for your love to be mine.
Oh how I know, your love would be fine.
For darling I adore you, like the Greeks adored the stars.

    Nice analogy here

    "Like the Greeks adored the stars." well done. I haven't heard that one before in a poem. Nice to be fresh and new isn't it? Appreciate your talent. Thanks for entering.
