Her nights beget a haunting song of dreamy starbursts,
surreal images seduced her sleep
of worlds and creatures she felt were friends,
never seen among the ones she had known.
Keeping her visions secret from her family
feeling a strange ache of being different as if a stranger
midst the times of hugs and reunions.
Years, she spent at crossroad experiences
never truly sensing what should burn
between hearts filled with love.
Ready to abandon any hope for a touch
which would be forever.
At last meeting a pair eyes came into her soul,
a chance encounter at a bookstore,
unspoken gazes sinking deep with shaking assurance
this hand she would hold was her fated match.
Wedding night she awakes feeling uneasy
lured to window where she sees a silvery craft
descending in her direction.
The pounding in her chest grows so intense
as the ship comes closer
then in one startling second she is caught up in a beam
trying to scream to her husband before sucked into the ship.
Time now flashes before her in constant irony
finding out she was a member of an alien race
who waited until she had learned true love
before taking her back to her real planet.
Finding out her groom was also an alien,
but of a different planet and dimension.
Now they return in astral form
when the cosmic harmony of stars allows,
spending a few precious hours
blessed with bodies that can hold the other
until the ruling galactic energies summoned them home.

Enticing!
I loved this! Story poems always captivate me when they are told with style, grace, and beauty. I can see you're very talented. Some poets can write free verse, and other's can't. You most definitely can and this was quite profound!
I usually write free verse, but I also rhyme here and there when I feel like it! Anyway this is great. Thanks so much for sharing and keep up the good work!
