as you sleep

laid out on the bed in the true hues of perfection, your hair formed a mess of strawberries & cream with my pillow. you shy away from truths that none dared utter until i came along, but if you could only see your angelic form on my cheap tie-dyed mattress that never did you justice, i know you'd believe. every fiber of my being points to your side as where i belong, but i knew long before that, before the words tumbled out of our mouths. it didn't take your new age confession amidst the biting wind, beating drums, flashing lights, and screaming girls to tell where our future lay.
and no matter who denies it, i'll carry this knowledge for as long as i can believe it.
                              forever.
