You pop the pills one after the other
there's the Tegretol and Celexa
they're supposed to help your mood even out
but it's still takking you on those wild
roller coaster rides through hell
The depression is like a suffocating fog
squeezing out your last bits of hope
and scooping out your insides
leaving them on the corner of the street
like garbage waitinng to be towed away
Your left in darkness waiting to be rescued
by your powdery tasting pills and capsules
that only succed in making you feel numbed over and unreal
There's the Haldol and Abilify
Meant to take away your only friends
the voices living in your head
you stumble through the hard cold world
of unforgiving reality
the little pink and yellow pills
make the world spin too fast aand your eyes blur over
there's the Trazadone to make you sleep
faithfully you take it every night
and wait to be rescued by the big white pill
and swept away into dreamless unconciousness
then there's the Cogentin and Hyoscyamine
that are meant to regulate the side effects
But that's all you are,
your one big side effect
of mental illnesses and shattered dreams

oh my god i love this write it's exactly how i feel, everything... like no matter what pills or how many you take, all they do is make you numb [not happy]... and if you do smile, it's created by the pills, not your own subconscience. this is beautiful absolutly amazing write, it's EXACTLY what im looking for, thank you so much for entering xfinalistx

Whoa. This was one of the best poems I've read. The title was very creative. You captured the die hard truth. I take about 6 pills a day for depression, and you're right, all I am is one big side effect.
