She carries with her the sorrow
of a thousand yesterdays, still
she always greets with a smile
when, asked the shallow question
"how are you, today"
for darkness came and stole her
life's flame, without a hint nor
preminision suddenly alone, now
stuck with only one decision
Not easy...
you see...
for giving up seemed the only way
till reality she found, when she
woke one day and back at her stared
with (his) blue eyes, this perfect
little girl...
Who made every day worthwhile
the one, the reason for her smile.

Back to read this again... My favorite lines are:
She carries with her the sorrow
of a thousand yesterdays
and
for darkness came and stole her
life's flame, without a hint nor
preminision suddenly alone, now
stuck with only one decision
I love reading your poetry.... When can I see the next one???? -

Oh My Goodness
I read this and was touched but didn't know exactly how to comment it. So I scrolled down and found Rebeckah-Ann's comment. I went to her page and realized that she is a widow. (don't know how I missed that in the poem) But then, the power of this piece hit me. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful piece about your friend. It was beautifully written and a wonderful tribute to your friend.

Such beautiful heartfelt words to lift the spirits of one who needs it. Friends are so important in our lives, especially those who are there in the bad times. Congratulations on your 'spotlight' and welcome to AP. I think you will find so many wonderful people here, as I did, and you will find that your poetry will grow and flourish.

A lovely write of affection ...
Two years ago I realized that writing poetry for someone is one of the deepest ways we express our love for them. Although I don’t know her, I’ve read some of Rebekah-Ann’s work and find her openness and honesty irresistible. She seems an easy person to love, and you’ve painted a lovely picture of your affection for her. Thank you for sharing this and writing it. Warm regards, Sultan

WOW ! Thank you Sultan
mmm, loved your "on the mark" response to
my poem! Definitely true, when we love
someone the words we use to express our feelings with, almost wright themselves.

You know Rebekah? She is really something special!
Great that you lightened up the poem speaking about her little girl in the last stanzas. I think that is the only reason she never gave up on life!!!
Very well done and congratulations on the front page!!!

ahhhhhh...never mind my previous question. I got it now and this truly is beautiful in a sense that the warmth seems to reach across these vast distances of cyberspace and settle right next to me here. I love the border with that precious baby as well
