Hello, Brother, how are you?
Have a seat, relax a bit
so I can introduce myself.
Settle down, while this story I knit.
I heard a bird calling for help....
As I investigated, he looked toward me
and said he fell from his nest -
now he needed a family.
I'm answering the call, I'd like
to think, in the best way I know how.
I'll be there for you whenever you
choose to need or want me, this I humbly vow.
Though I may not be able to solve your
problems, or help your sorrows,
I can promise you I'll be by your side
today, & for the rest of our tomorrows.
Little Brother, I want you to see
this person, who I am, what makes
me different. I care, truly,
about people, no matter what path you take.
I trust quickly, & have often been hurt.
I am sensitive to others' thoughts,
especially to how people treat me
when for their acceptance I have fought.
I know life isn't always roses -
forget peaches & cream -
I still look for the sunshine,
the bright side of everything.
I believe in Jesus Christ
& long for the day I'm in Heaven,
where some of my family is already,
& I hope to see my friends.
I will try to be what you need
& give it my all - but please:
understand I may fail, stumble, & fall.
Just think on the good things:
How I'll help you up
& really care about you.
All you have to do is let me in
& we'll be a family, it's true!
Well, Brother, it's time for me to go.
I've deeply enjoyed our time together.
Think on the things I've said...
Smile, no matter what the weather!
Author notes
I may be a long-lost Sister, but I truly enjoyed writing this one!
Mike, my dear Bro, your poem, "just a flying visit" ( www.allpoetry.com/poem/3410004 ) helped me with mine, & thank you for the inspiration you gave!

Very Good
You've gracefully described what siblings should be like without sounding like a lecturer. I like how it was put together. Good job!
