What strange affection for
these weird expulsions;
they suck breath without warning
shutting the eyes
yanking a noble torso in
spastic infarction;
Such nasal tremors can raise
a roof in syllabic thrust,
and if this clumsy act were
not enough to alert the night
someone has, in more
than seven languages,
blessed us terribly.

How Fantastic!
LOL...I just heard a Sermon recently about this very issue...ah choo! The Title: Why does a sneeze deserve a blessing? I love your mehtaphores, the way your words so aptly detail the physical response to a sneeze, the picture you chose. This was a great entertainment Diane!Every thing is just so neatly expressed I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you. Bravo!

Bless you.
I was once told in a cellular physiology course that a sneeze uses neural pathways and stimulates many cortical sites in common with an orgasm. I have never been able to get that out of my mind and I have never felt quite the same about sneezing.
Enjoy.

Wow....!!!
That's new info to me. Hee hee. I'm gonna pass that on. I guess even though I've been a cellebate for more than 18 yrs. now that I've been having neural pleasures I was unaware of! -
Okayyyyyyyyy. That explains so much of its expression. I used to think that it cleared the taste buds, re-lighted the head fuel. It stopped and started something. So your statement explains so much of the scientific portion. I guess I always feel better after! LOL
Thank you........once again, dear poet! Warmly, CookieZeal

There I go again!
I've got to stop hitting the return key! The "blessing" of sneezes came about as the result of the myth believed that when one sneezed the "soul" left & could be taken over by demons! -

And that's not all, the lumps that are launched in the process fly along most unpredictable trajectories often. Situations resulting from these shootings may be quite embarrassing. I'm sometimes plagued by sudden sneezing attacks, as a result of which my cats jump up three feet. They never bless me. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care,

Blessing Sneezes...
The ritual started I don't remember when as a myth. The "blessing" was in response to the belief that when one sneezed the "soul" left the body & could be taken over by demons. -
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh YUCK........lol. Did I ask for that one,...uh huh. I sure did.
Hahhhhhh.
your extended vocabulary has added some links to the chain of descriptives. Also....added an extra snoozaroo to this little known involuntary compulsion..lol.
Thank you for another unique comment. I'm looking forward to exchanging. Seems we're on the same side of the fence where poetic inspections are concerned.
Warmly, CookieZ/D

ahahahahahaaaaaa.... well done, well expressed... well sneezed!!!!!

my goodness what affliction has taken over here? lol. Laughter aside great piece of work here providing superb conversation and muse...Entertaining too!

Burps catch us breathlessly off guard too,yet they hardly ever get blessed. Hiccups can kill if they won't stop too. But they just get laughed at. I think we all assume the lill sneezer did as a prelude of much worse to come for them.Ha! Only you,can turn a sneeze into a thoughtful pondered poem piece. Livin up to your pen name Cookie!I love it!

They do say that when you sneeze you die for half a second! To write about this is corageous-Ahchoo!!

-
Isn't that an amazing fact that is still being disputed. Hehehe.
Was researching how each country responds to a sneeze, and it inflamed this little witty ditty!
Thank you so much for coming over. Warmly, CookieZeal/D
