An Ode to Your Ankles

My Adonis is not from marble made.
His divine stance is movement:

      of wheeling wings
      where spearing tendons claiming soles
thrust downward, pounding the hollow ground
      of leaf-beds
      curling over themselves.

Exhaled through cracks in the forest
as a tree might shoot from the earth,
his mystical strides are kept earthbound only
      by twin anchors,

          hallowed and mindful.

It is one thing to be lucky; it is completely another blessing to realize it whilst we have it.

Thank you for the kind words, Wanda.
