helium balloons
rise in hope
of journeys just
begun or ended;
each one mapless
she stands at a microphone;
wearing a purple ribbon,
speaks with stuttered
strength, reaped in armfuls
she is so so small;
Manchester Town Hall
looms imperious,
imposing his shadow
as the sun shines...
rise in hope
of journeys just
begun or ended;
each one mapless
she stands at a microphone;
wearing a purple ribbon,
speaks with stuttered
strength, reaped in armfuls
she is so so small;
Manchester Town Hall
looms imperious,
imposing his shadow
as the sun shines...

probably because I am exploring maps and this has one of my favorite lines by you in mapless

absolutely wonderful poetry- you've penned a poem for a cause..- i do hope you present it to the administration of the cause for them to use in a rally brochure?

i stand firm with you here for such a worthy write. the mapless baloons, any town anywhere tell it to the mountains...the seas, across all lands...this is a strong voice of purple...for children of all nations.

Hey sweetie,
Wow! this piece still has me pondering. I love the brevity of the piece and makes me want more.
So glad to see you writing. I haven't written anything in a while, my muse is hibernating
-
each one mapless
that made me really think about the wayward flight of the balloon. and about how life is truly a mapless journey despite Modern Man's best intentions.
thanks for the poemtrip.

The end of silence is the begining of new life... hard, but there is no other way. I applaud you for this one, Elaine.

love the use of purple in this, oh and of course, being an honourary Manc, I love where it took place.

It is just so how on these rallies one feels so small, the buildings representing 'authority' 'the state' 'the thing that can make things right if they want to' seem three times larger than usual, and one feels like a mosaic tile in the crowd.
To stand there small and speak is to be huge.
Now you made me cry.

-
Amen!!!
damn Elaine... this is so moving.. so moving, here i am at the back, waving, cheering and applauding this
yes

-
yes......
yes ....yes...
the end is perfect.. as the sun shines, it could go either way but with this, I WANT to make it positive, I want it to erase the shadow .. in a blaze of self assurance.. though my mind tells me it's never as easy as that..
this says... ah but it can be .. it can..
