What do you see, little cat?

You watch me with those great green eyes
Showing no sign of surprise
That suddenly I’m behind you.

I know you like what you see,
But what I’m holding’s just for me
So stop batting it with your paws.

It’s not for you, whatever you think,
Please look away or give me a wink,
You’re scaring me with your staring.

Author notes

This was inspired by my cat, Mittens, who stares intently at me whenever I've got food.
