Take off your wig,
Your false eyelashes,
Your coquettish smile
And let me see your face.
Who are you?
What lies behind your lies?
Do you hurt,
Or is this really who you are?
This can't be you.
No one is this ... chipper.
No one lives with anesthetic
Permanently embedded in there soul.
Some wound, some grief,
Must fester in your heart-
Open and bleeding,
Too raw to touch.
I was just like you once-
Hiding behind my perfect life.
A hole within my soul
That left me lost.
Take off your brightly colored make up,
Let me see your scars.
Battle wounds are beautiful
When you can see them
for what they really are.

Interesting take, once again a poem that is nothing like what I would've written for the prompt... But that's what makes us original =)
I like the way you took this prompt, original and greatly...
Thanks heaps for entering round 2 and good luck! =) -
I like this one! A bit introspective in this conversational mood. this is very nicely done and has me feeling like I am listening to a conversation. Nice!!!
