You open your eyes
The sun's gentle rays
wash over you.
The blue sky sprinkles
with the coming of happiness.
The birds chirp that
annoying but comforting song.
The water laps the shore,
tickles your toes.
You dig your fingers
through the sand,
and that smooth
but grainy blanket
makes you smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You walk down the sidewalk,
arms crossed in your
warm woolen coat.
Winter's tears
lightly dust your face,
giving you ice cold
kisses, welcoming you
to the start of a rest.
You see people sipping hot cocoa,
laughing, eating,
sharing memories from the lonely
past. You walk into a little
cafe on the corner of a street.
You order a soothing cup of
coffee, with extra sugar.
An elderly couple see your
getup of coat, red cheeks, and snowflake
covered eyelashes. They pay for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are just a few pleasures of life.
You are so very lucky to be experiencing it
this very moment.
I hope when you read this,
it reminds you of what a gift
you have been given.

I like it...
Nice and gentle, puts the point across nice and simply. Though maybe a little too direct for my liking, though far from DQ worthy. Good luck!
