Being safe,
Isn’t just a word?
It’s a feeling.
And so much more.
Family who cares,
The one you love holding you close,
Where you feel normal,
And don’t have to hide.
It could be this world,
Or it could be a dream,
Feeling safe is what this means.
A loving dog.
Your favorite room,
You secret stash,
Your runaway place.
Your book of wonders,
You’re drawing of mountains.
Your favorite food, in your hands.
A painting of you,
Your home that’s so sweet.
So much more can make you feel safe!
Perhaps its love?
Perhaps its not,
Maybe it is just a feeling?
Or then again, maybe its not.
Friends who never leave you,
Children that never stop smiling.
Rainbows and pixies.
Anything could make you feel safe.
Your sister,
Your brother,
You mother,
And dad.
Everything around you stops you from feeling sad.
Your toy from birth,
Your bed of dreams,
So much that can make you feel safe.
It could be anything.
