Old Life

Sixteen years old
So young
So beautiful
So much to do
I can’t be tie by this baby
Of mine
Found out I’m pregnant two weeks ago
No one know
No one will know about it
Everyone thought I’m a good Christian girl
Can’t let no one know
I heard drinking bleach
Can kill the baby inside me
Hopefully this half cup will do
Feel the pain
Feel the organs inside of me screaming for help
I force it down
Duck tape on my mouth
I want that baby die
I want my old life back
Can’t let that baby tie me
God that bleach is hurting me so bad
I feel like I want to throw up
Throw up that bleach
No I can’t throw up
Then my hope of being single is no more
Force it down
Then I hear my mother screaming
My father yelling
Calling the hospital is what they do
Mother removed the duck tape from my mouth
Breath again
I didn’t know air can be so beautiful
Bleach come out
Right after I smell the fresh air
People from the ER
Come to rescue
I was put in the hospital for two week
Doctor says the baby is gone
My life is back
But he also say
I can’t have baby for the rest of my life
My life is back
This is not the life I want

Wow! Very raw. I had a flashback of when I was two years old and accidentally swallowed bleach from a white cup that I thought had milk in it. My mom was removing the stains with bleach, and I had asked her for a cup of milk. The hospital pumped my stomach. Not fun. I remember that horrible feeling of not being able to catch my breath. Congrats on the hm!

    strong, focused, real

We live this wrong along with her
we feel the pain; we hurt and frown
What she does this helps deter
To read it shows how this is quite profound

Do you know the reason I liked this? So many people have tried explaining this situation before, but its always turned out overdone. I loved the simple, raw emotion and reality of this poem. Good job, thanks for your entry.
