Twenty-five years

Twenty-five years ago,
just the other day it seems, that
God’s healing touch arrived
amidst fear and anxiety over dying child.

With daughter of three in arms,
and nurse within ambulance to oversee, a hushed
silence fell, when ambulance driver placed his hand
on the forehead of my three-year old to pray.

The midday sun beat on metal roof,
and city’s lunch hour traffic could no longer be heard
when God’s presence was felt by all with such awe of
reverence at the joyous happening that was taking place
before eyes of those so closely huddled.

The healing began and slowly made its way, causing
alarm within the specialist medical team, who sought
for answers they could not find, but had to admit that
a miracle had taken place, because of the sudden change
in the health of this three-year old child.

From profound ability to walk at eight months, to swim
at two, to dress herself and talk her mind too, she within
hours during one night’s sleep was reduced incapable to even
sit without support, for she had lost all capability because of
a virus unseen that threatened to cut short her life.

The healing was a God's journey, and at five she gave her heart
to the Children’s Friend, and as she grew older she regained
both God-given strength and undying faith, and now at twenty-five,
she remains on Jesus’ Path; in two years time, she will conclude her
years as student to stand in front of little children teaching them the ABC.

Just the other day it seems that God’s healing touched
so extraordinary my daughter of three, allowing me the discovery that
not my faith this healing could cause, but the understanding with fleeting
insight of a Father’s love enshrouded by grace for a parent twenty-five years ago.
