I'm trying to think, what it is you have.
What characteristics make you unique?
That I will weaken and succomb to tears
Just because I've not seen you in a week.
Is it your infinite wisdom?
Or perhaps your mega-watt smile?
Maybe it's your endearing charm...
Oh boy, this list may take awhile!
It could be your strength,
Or broadness and height.
Whatever the trait may be,
God made you perfectly right.
Maybe the answer is rather simple.
It's not that you're sweet,good-looking, or tall.
You are Michael Morris.
That seems to say it all.
I know you don't think so,
But I disagree.
Whatever you may think,
You're perfect for me.
You are honest,
Kind and fair.
I never have to wonder
Whether you truly care.
They say actions speak louder than words,
And often this may be true,
But I receive both of these
In my relationship with you.
You open all the doors,
And pull out my chair.
Though you were raised to do this,
It still shows how much you care.
You call me even if you're busy,
And especially when you're not.
With all the communication,
It's no wonder we haven't fought!
When I'm in your arms,
There's no place I'd rather be,
And now I'm more than willing
To offer you a key.
The key is symbolic,
For it is not real,
But it represents all of the emotions
For you which I feel.
This key I don't take lightly,
It's surrounded by prayer.
God has blessed us with something,
Truly unique and rare.
I've thought about this often,
And prayed on it even more.
Until I came to a point,
Where God opened a door.
Despite all the fears,
And doubts from the past.
God showed me that
This indeed will last.
I'm not sure what you think,
Or where your feelings stand.
Right now it matters not,
I'm content just to hold your hand.

I wrote this poem for my wonderful boyfriend. It was the first time I read a poem outloud to the person it was intended for...and as I did it, I held his hand.
