Feedback for those who gave us feedback

Actually
I think the Raven Contest should be a tri-monthly contest series...
I enjoyed the feedback and actually thin it was a nice step in the right direction for the website here...
I'm tired of being told...."your poem was good" and getting nothing back bout it...
No poem can catch everyone's eye...not ever the greatestpoets ever can accomplish that, and I think it's nice to be told the good and bad points you have on a poem...
I entered three of the raven contests and got great reviews all around...
I often frrl like not many people understand poetry as I do....but you guys pulled me away from this solitaire confinement and I know now that I am not alone....

I have often felt that many people use poetry as an emotional outlet, and self-thearopy object, but rarely take the time to get into the world of words...
I see alot of poetry that I can't see how the writer made such a little effort to make it unique. I thought I was alone in understanding that poetry is an art form. I will play with the number of syllables in a line, a stanza, or I will use alliteration without detouring from my main focus. I am glad you can take into consideration the time put into these writes...
I have spent nearly 2 years writing some poems because they stil aren;t right...they still don't have that missing color, so to speak...
I am still entangled in sopme, and truly may never finish them. I am glad you can take the time to read our poetry and give us feedback. This is what we need more than anything else- to know that we have been understood, or as it may be...misunderstood...
Anyhow, my comment is begining to draw itself out, so I guess really I just want to say Thank You...

I hope you hold these contests again, and I would love to participate as always....
Peace and Love to all the judges,
And as always
Take care and keep writing...

Thank you for your feed back. I know we tried to do the best we could do. It was a learning curve I can say this for me. I have learned just as much as you did. I try to think about my comments before I write them. I feel very blessed in getting to read the wide varity of works this year. Maybe next year you may want to try for a judeship placed. It truly an experince that has touched me. Thank you for sharing your comments with us.

Hello lostinawe. I'm resposting my reply to you on the official contest thread so the other judges may view my comments.

I am pleased to see you enjoyed taking part in this years contest and found the comments to be constructive. During the contest it was not only our aim to find excellent poetry but also to give constructive criticism to authors where we felt it would be a benefit and I received many positive messages with thoughts similar to yours.

As you know, the Raven Contest is very large and therefore takes a lot of advance planning behind the scenes before it ever reaches your screen and due to the number of entries, which we hope will expand in future years, it also takes a while for all entries to be read and judged. For these reasons it is not really a viable option at the moment to run the contest more than once a year, though it is something to think about for the future.

It appears you found an extra benefit to the contest in that it brought you out of isolation in your poetry, which is a positive thing. This is an area that we hadn't really considered so if you would like to explain to me just how that was acheived I would be interested.(send me an IM if you prefer)

Thank you for taking the time to read this and give us your feedback. We look forward to seeing you in next years contest

Thanks for the comment, your feelings on the nature of poetry are appreciated.

The problem with making the contest as frequent as "tri-monthly" is that the neither the funding or the time are present to keep the quality of the contest on par with what it is now. If we tried to do something like that you would necessarily wind up with comments that looked a lot like "good poem" as the judges simply would not have the time to go as in depth as they would like (and currently do).

Hope to see you in next year's Raven!
