to: checkmate

you tried to touch a hand
and lift the person high up
but what you did instead
was touch a heart
and lift a soul up high

in very essence
you're beautiful
and no matter what happens,
I will be here
till the very end
for I know
you're not one
to just leave

to many heartbreaks
causing a hole inside
your beautiful heart
but you are slowly covering it up
with you courage and strength
which I love

with every thing you say
I want to understand
and catch it all
but sometimes,
my ears are not cleaned
and I don't hear it
so I keep pestering you
that's how special you are

with such grace
you take on the world
like nothing ever happened
and in doing so
changed so many
from nerds
to cool dudes

and I was one of them

I love you!

    This poem sends out a beautiful and tender message actually It felt a bit clichéd though, but that's just my opinion

    I like what this says, and it's really sweet. But I think as a poem, it's lacking a bit. It doesn't really flow very well to me, and in the first stanza, you say high twice which annoyed me a tad. Lol. Sorry. I liked 'with such grace
    you take on the world' and 'causing a hole inside
    your beautiful heart
    but you are slowly covering it up
    with you courage and strength', but I think the 'which I love' on the end of that stanza is pointless and detracts from the piece.

    Congrats on the honorable mention... though I'm not really sure that this really falls under the option 10... an angel in disguise is someone who fools you into believing they are good when they truly wear a mask to hide their cruel intentions. You know? But still thank you for entering...

    And in response to your question...

    I meant when a friend is living life a way that you cannot accept.

    this is a beautiful dedication, dear...and thank you so much! you are so special to me too honey, and thank you for staying beside me for so long.

    I loved this piece- oh, I am not all of these good things..I have my bad quirks too, but you always ignored them and made me so much of a better person. you changed me so much too- from someone who was just too fast, I learnt to slow down and appreciate life. I learnt to be patient. I learnt that it's never too late to have fun.

    Thank you my dear friend. You will always always be so dear to me. I will never never forget you (I promise!). And I will always keep on lovin' you- I think it's a habit already

    No matter what happens next year, I will ALWAYS remember you. you are so amazing, and strong. && patient! I am so glad that I met you out of all the 5 billion people in this world, because you are special to me and have been such a loving friend.
