Star Surfing

I step out the door,
devour the chill autumn (soon winter) air.

It's dark.  Past 3.  I haven't gone to sleep yet.

I raise my head and my eyes hit the moon-
a tasty disc humming overhead, vested with transparent gauze of pale iris.

I want it.  The moon.  I want the stars.
I want to feel the prickle of a spiny celestial bomb,
a supernova piercing my flesh, drawing blood and injecting molten silver.

So I raise my arms and beckon to the starry hosts:
Beam me up!

And they do.  I step onto an invisible stairway of starbeam,
thick unseen strands of lux steel spiraling up like a beanstalk;
I climb.

While climbing I spy a meteor:
a comet trailing green and gold blaze with a vivid scarlet outline-
at its head, it is a twisting helix, composed of swirls spaced infinitesimally.

I throw out a groping hand, and it latches onto the tail.
It curls serpentine around my arm, and seeps into my chest cavity.
Shooting Star shoots out of my mouth, and together

we are united.

And it carries us into infinite oblivion.

But we make sure to crunch a starcore and grab two slices of moon pie.
Just on the way.

This is such a fun poem to read. The words take you on an adventure... to infinity, and beyond! Hehe.. Yes, bad pun. But I said it. If you decide to go into depth with this, it would be a great book idea. Thanks for entering my contest and good luck!

Wow, great imagination for this poem. Its fine that you didnt use the title-I see that it was used as a theme or inspiration. I really liked some of your descriptive lines like "want to feel the prickle of a spiny celestial bomb,
a supernova piercing my flesh, drawing blood and injecting molten silver."
Thanks for entering this in my contest!
