pet

there is a
flat tire

and it
is me

and i am the
leaky faucet
and the
scuff marks
on the floor

that are
gross to
look at

i am selfish

the pits
of my stomach
cry and cry
gaining your
disgusted glare
because i don't
deserve to be
fed or
hungry

i humiliate you
and you make
sure i look
down when i
walk and when
it's cold outside
i rub my arms
to keep warm

i am the
apple stems
and orange peels
that nobody
eats

i beg you
to hug me
and keep me
and let me
stay

you say
that i am
a coward

that i should
apologize for
being so sickening

my face runs
down my
body as i
plead

"i'm sorry
i'm sorry"

and i don't
quit gagging
even after
you tell me
to "clean this

shit up"

Author notes

this is not a pre-write. I don't have 'best' poems. Just regular poetry. I believe in 'best' about as much as I believe in 'perfection'. I hope regular is okay.

For those of you who know what it's like.

this is really neat. i am pretty impressed.
i don't know what exactly you are talking about.
this piece is pretty good though as it is.
    i really like it.
in the future i'd only suggest playing around with sound and structure and styles altogether.
    thank you for entering

Beginning reminds me of my days working in the fast food industry. Loved the ending. Loved it whole, actually.

Well, I'm not sure what exactly you're talking about in your note part, but I love this poem. I think it's one of your best. I how you common the title was to the poem yet the poem itself was really one of those that you think of the world around you. That what I like about your poetry. You take something common and flip upside down to make the reader start thinking of things that never really thought with that stuff. You know what I'm saying. Right.
