Star-crossed

You will never tell me, will you,
What blessings you sought,
What silent wishes,
Hands folded in prayers yesterday
In the Sacred Grove of our delusions.

You merely smiled.
The peacock spread its plumes
And danced for me.
A whole constellation of stars
Shifting...
Oh, our star-crossed love!

    Hi PV

This poem really hits me hard... Beautiful images.
It captures almost all emotions. Even the sadness is carrying a trace of happiness, since youth is something about Big Laughters...
Lines 6,7 and 8 are my favorites.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece.

Reading this outside my contest is much better. I love the peacock plumery, and the way you write the teenage sentiment from a distance. It makes it much easier to digest, to relate to even, not so melodramatic.

    Wistful

There are things that we will never know, and things we will never see again. Your poem has beautiful images and a pleasant sadness. May I suggest, "you had merely smiled" would be fine in the simple past, "you merely smiled".
    I enjoyed reading.
Too bad about the contest, better luck next time!

This is an interesting entry, but I'm not entirely certain what it has to do with snowflakes. I read it three times to make sure I wasn't missing an image..

You are right. I misread the conditions. You contest caught me in a sentimental mood that did not leave me. Am taking it out, dear friend. Cheers.
