Ray Copeland

you never changed.
thief, you scam others
to get easily through life.
reality check!
life is hard, always will be.
there's no such thing
as an easy life.
you have a brain,
you could have used it properly.
why did you do it?
it's just cattle.
haven't you had enough of prison?
they were just drifters,
men you had gotten
to help you fool the system.
help, and bang!
rest in peace.

were you the one
who had your wife
make a quilt of their clothing?

Author notes

I just wanted to write something. My muse isn't back though. I wrote a poem for this contest because it's about serial killers. And serial killers fascinate me (Criminal Minds!). I randomly chose a serial killer on About.com, and I chose Ray and Faye Copeland, the oldest people to be sentenced to death in America. I don't think that they're the most interesting killers, but I wrote about them anyway. I focused on Ray because there was more about him, but if there was just as much information of Faye, I would have written about her. She's much more interesting.

yeah ... they don't really sound as though they could be categorized as 'serial' killers do they? lol, but then again, they were old, so ... ~shrug~
