Prairie Angels (a shape poem)

I do
believe that
there are angels
looking after
cowboys,
keeping night watch with us as we, ourselves,
watch over the herds; keeping us
safe from predators
just as
we keep the
wolves at bay; leading
us to clear water holes in the
dry lands; looking over our shoulders.
Yes, I believe in angels who watch
over cowboys.
(Can you see mine?)

Author notes

This is posted solely because Dave asked to see shape-poems. It was written long ago when my poetry (and my beliefs) were far more juvenile.

    from an innocent time

Eric, no views may be required, but having viewed, I can review....happily....and say that even though this may have come from your 'juvenile' period, it is still an amusing and very visual work and will appeal to many. Your work on the site is wonderful. Good to read you again.

I believe we have our own angels looking over us and helping when we need it most and are least expecting it.

Yes my friend you made me smile with this!
Keep penning on one stroke at a time!

Wow, awsome shape poem. The words remind me of a few blessed shepherds long ago who were indeed watched over by angels.

Awwww, I like this cute shaped poem...

but you know, I swear I see a six gun in this angel's hand...perhaps a trick of the eye?

No comments are required, but I enjoyed this glimpse of your long gone juvenile side...though I'm pretty sure I still catch a glint of it...just around the eyes.

If shepherds can have them while they watch their flocks at night, then surely the cowboys must have had angels to watch over them while they slept or kept watch under the stars far from soft safe beds.
And you don't fool me Eric, I know you still believe in angels, because I can see yours right there at the top of the page.
