Meara Dawn

Your hands reach out, to capture mine,
your smiling eyes are bright.
You giggle, and give me a kiss,
then pull yourself upright.
You bounce in place, and squeal with joy,
when I tickle at your side.
You stand back up when you fall down,
and fill my heart with pride.
The truth is, even when you cry,
and scream, and throw a fit,
The greatest day in all my life,
is the day you came into it.

    Beautiful! There is nothing to compare with the joy a child brings because it is different to romance, family ties or friendship. There is something beyond all this, a tie that binds hearts forever, even though those hearts could get broken. I especially liked the lines:
    'The truth is, even when you cry,
    and scream, and throw a fit,
    The greatest day in all my life,
    is the day you came into it.
    There is no oversentimentality here, the words speak the deep truths of motherhood. Yes we may get tired at times, but we never forget. Magic!
    Take these moments and cherish them, they are more than rubies. Thank you for sharing this.

      Thank you, for your kind words! Of course, my daughter is almost two now, and cries, screams, and throws more fits than when I wrote this .. haha .. but I don't love her any less! I've learned, when dealing with kids, you just have to put yourself in their shoes, and understand where they're coming from, and it helps solve any number of "problems" and "tantrums"! Thanks, again!
