Standing Right Here

peppy on the outside
emo on the in
I try to look happy
But I'm crawling in my skin
You say you don't know me
And that's your worst fear
Why can't you see me
I'm standing right here

I try to be open
I try to be true
But you won't listen
So I don't know to tell you
I'll just keep crying
shedding these tears
Because yo can't see me
Although I'm standing right here

I can't be who I was before because that's just not me
So I won't pretend anymore
I don't see like you see
I don't understand what you don't get
I try to explain,but I think you forget
I try to make you understand
I try to make it clear
Though something must blur you vision
Because I'm standing right here

    I completly understand like before some stuff happened to me I was really sweet and I took a lot of shit from other people but now I have changed and I like who I am , I get where your coming from good write

    this how i use to be! i use to be a prep just cuz i wanted to fit in...and now i figured out thats not what i wanted to be! i finally just gave up on them and i did loose many many friends, but i guess i just didnt want my rep. to be me being named as a slut (cuz all the girls i use to hang out with were) so i just changed! so now im hard core emo ish, and i like it a lot better cuz its who i am and that what i want to be!
    but i love this poem cuz it spoke to me! it was just amazing

    I think that many people experience this. They are able to show that they were once pretending to be somebody else and now they've come out of their skin.
    Your words are true and sad. The rhyme is basic and I quite like that. Because you aren't trying to force the words out.
