Jealous Lovers

When the moon ignores lovers

at midnight hour pursues the sea

then leaves by morning light

a sea in wild tempest tossed

with foamy caps beat

upon waking shore

gulls see through diamonds

spread by rising sun

and  I sit upon the sand

and write what no lover could.

    prompt is:

“The poet knows himself only on the condition that things resound in him, and that in him, at a single awakening, they and he come forth together out of sleep.”
