I’m Happy Here

Must I leave this place,
Full of happiness and joy?
Will my memories fade away,
And leave nothing but a shimmer in my mind?
The days of peace are gone,
Filled by maturity,
Must I grow up?
I’m so very happy here,
Nothing to worry about,
Nothing to care about,
Nothing at all except me,
My friends are embracing freedom,
But I can not.
I’m afraid,
I’m scared,
I’m terrified,
Can I venture out on my own?
Into the adult world,
Where simplicity lies dead,
And coordination controls.
Is it time to tear down the posters?
To pack up the Playstation?
My inner child screams for air,
But I know his life has passed,
It’s time,
To leave this place,
To grow into the man I will be,
Time to give up my childhood,
And move on to older needs,
Cars,
Work,
Family,
There will be no going back.
