Sacrilegious thought-
Hail Mary!
God, I wish I were Catholic-
to slip out from under the heavy mantle
of guilt for those few moments,
to know the freedom of the lamb
the innocent beckoning
a renewal of hope and light in dark times
to be full of grace, that elusive state
the burning scent of incense mingling
with the salty taste
holy water on my lips
dark confessions
uttered aloud
a great rent,
the purging of those
darkened cubicles of the mind
to chase innocence
lured on by impossibility-
like the temptation of religion.
apology if it offends

The search for meaningful spirituality is often a long and winding road. Great visualazations(sp?), I like the feeling of intense longing that comes through.

Well, I'm a Catholic, and it doesn't offend me, just a helful hint though, use your capital letters at the start of a line and punctuation at the end of each line. It helps to break down the poem and makes it easier to read
I hope to be reading more of your work soon, and keep up the good work!
All the best,
