Party of One

Pie, my sweet friend,
you're a chocolate sensation,
solid and steadfast-
join me tonight for my own pity-party
told by circular ramblings
through this barren mindscape.

Feed my unquenchable sorrow,
speak to the dark need unbound,
lure me with your thick white layers of acceptance,
watch me knock back creamy coffee
like another shot of Jack
burning down the pipe.

See me through my hour of need,
tell me your sweet lies
until the hands of the clock
turn once more around-
until I dig deep,
then deeper
and find the strength
to push away, to stand once more
on my own.

    Very *Sweet* Poem

I tend to eat and shop compulsively. This piece has personal appeal. Poetically, I love the flow of this piece as I grab a piece of my chocolate cheesecake...lol

I love the clever use of the phrase "sweet lies". Your advanced approach to poetry is manifested through your clever use of emotive and sensory appeal. Continue to sweeten the lives of others thru your poetry.

How sad. This actually reminds me of my roommate. (With the exception of Jack.) He doesn't have much of a life and this was pretty much word for word his every night. I loved the detail you put into this... it was so clear and vivid. Well done.
