It’s forever there, lingering in the darkness
Cold, relentless eyes always watchful
In one’s darkest hour, this creature draws its strength
And at one’s finest hour, this being can be deadly
Though, this shadow is not always visible
It can be hidden beneath the surface
Concealed in the many illusions being cast
It is shameful to admit such a creature
And yet, humbling to confess ones flaws
For there is no soul truly innocent
And no person clean of sin
Greed and lust always live,
Trampling over those who deny it
Humanity creates a deceitful bliss
Luring you into its deadly grasp of trust
Why put trust and power in greedy hands
When, corruption comes so easily
And one’s inner demon can be so simply awakened?
