(Lyrics- Rock/Alternative)
On the way to work today
I was drivin' some crazy way
went by Lynnette's hair salon
wondered what ever happened
to you
(chorus)
kept drivin' a little way
when on the radio I heard 'em say
it's just a little way
past the cemetery
and then you all gotta
get off...
then I turned 'round on 94
goin' down the wrong way
like a drive
down memory lane,
And I know
I'm gonna get plowed under,
it's happened before
and the letters of your name
are fading away
...and it's another day
gone by
and Lynnette's hair salon is gone
just as soon as I came along
and small town living
is gotta die out
'cause I know no one's makin'
any money, not this way
And I know
I'm gonna get plowed under-
it's happened before
so now, it's all real
and the letters of your name
are still fading away

These lyrics could play across several different genres, a testament to not only your content, but your word choice as well.
There are a few places that seem a little cliche...memory lane. You could do without them. Perhaps you might try to add a few conrete, yet insignificant (sp?) details. This might connect these mighty good lyrics with a physical sensation and really drag the reader, or listener into the song.
Overall I like it. This is definitely something I would listen to. The death of small town America combined with "Lynnette's hair salon," I love that part. Beautiful, just beautiful.
Blessings,

This kind of reminds me of some old Blink 182 tunes. The message is there and I think you might have somethign going here.
