October

With the sunrise,
on its first day down-under,
September brought Spring.
Now, in October, the dawn chorus
sounds louder, closer.

The recent buds,
on my seemingly
winter-dead wisteria,
have burst into pale purple fronds
in the warm morning sun.

Puddles, in the street outside,
left after an end-of-winter shower,
lazily send wisps of steam
as vernal offerings
to the cloudless sky

forecast last evening,
when the smiling TV girl revealed
that, down-under,
the next few days of Spring
will be fine, fine, fine.

I wonder, is it too soon
to put away the electric blanket?

This is a descriptive, entertaining poem but I dont grasp the connection to any of the quotes or titles

My apologies, this poem is a very slightly amended prewrite, which brought it's original title with it.

I've edited the title and also have added a note about the seasons 'down-under' which I hope will clarify matters.

      Best wishes

      Shenton

Dont worry about it, I was just a little confused-thank you for editing it!
