She sits on her bed
Knees tucked in
Staring at a friend
Sitting on the dresser
Across the room
The bottle
Glares back at her
It promises happiness
Or at least something
To numb all the pain
A battle wages
As she holds herself back
The end of a friend
Or the end of herself?
Slowly she rises
Shyly
Takes four steps forward
Then rushes back to safety
Should she
Try once more to end
The torture inside
She gets up
One last time
Tonight
She won't pop a pill
She wants to feel the pain
Not numb herself
Like she's done every day
Tears slide down her face
As she throws
An old friend away
Author notes
This isn't completely about me. It kind of just came out on paper when I was trying to write one night. I think you can get what it's about by reading it.
