Liberals and Conservatives

*Liberals* preach about how we need to do more to help the homeless.
*Conservatives* volunteer at soup kitchens and donate clothing and blankets to shelters.

*Liberals* Harp about endangered animals and the environment.
*Conservatives* are park rangers and game wardens.

*Liberals* petition for stricter "anti-crime" legislation.
*Conservatives* /call the police when they see someone breaking the law/

*liberals* whine about how bad off minorities are.
*Conservatives* give them jobs

*Liberals* urge presidents to send "peace-keeping" forces overseas.
*Conservatives* join the armed forces

*Liberals* weep over starving people in undeveloped countries
*Conservatives* become missionaries and go to them

*Liberals* think outlawing guns will deter crime
*Conservatives*/think punishing criminals will

*Liberals* say "don't spank your kids" and raise undisciplined hooligans
*Conservatives* teach their kids right from wrong and raise successful businessmen.

*Liberals* think criminals have rights
*Conservatives* consider those rights secondary to those of lawful citizens.

*Liberals* holler "racism" at the drop of a hat
*conservatives* consider other factors before making such a claim.

*Liberals* talk about society's problems
*Conservatives* actually do something about them

Same coin of post-modern humanism ...

Often categorized by my friends as ‘Right to Attila the Hun’, I don’t believe that either group has a corner on: morality, business acumen, family values, economic insight, integrity or justice. To me, it’s just a question of how we see the human condition. I think it takes considerable romantic optimism to believe expensive bureaucracies of malfunctioning humans do anything positive except slow down our mistakes. Liberals seem to believe otherwise, that government can actually solve social problems. As a conservative, I just think that’s preposterous. I believe in personal responsibility and accountability for the way we use our time in this life. One lifetime doesn’t allow me time for the ‘blame game’ I’ve watched on Fox News or CNN. I want governments to defend boarders and issue parking tickets. Leave the rest to us. To me, both the groups in your poem are the opposite sides of the same coin of post-modern humanism. Thanks for initiating our chance to comment Sultan

at last! someone who makes sense! less government! MORE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY!

I just get sick of the left claiming to do things they never do and then saying that conservatives don't do enough

    Lies All Lies

Not a shred of truth to this write - all kinds of people help and supply help at soup kitchens - I won't write anymore - except this is so unfair - there are good people in all walks of life - maybe I will write more - there is no such thing as Americans anymore - just Republicans and Democrats - Will the real American please stand up? - "united we stand - divided we fall" - and I am not a Liberal - Bless God - Joe - P.S. the attack on the people was evil, and the ones that visited this evil on them are evil and anyone that supported it are evil, and except they repent - well I hate to think what is in store for them.

in a roundabout way, you made the point I was hoping somebody would...we need to be Americans again. but the left has been hogging the spotlight for so long, i just wanted the right to be heard for a change.

PS nobody is dead, hurt or bruised because of this little poem, so I didn't "attack" anybody. that's just another example of how free speech is becoming a crime these days. if you say something some whiner doesn't like, he cries about it like a baby.

This was a very brave thing of you to do; it's one of those pieces in which you set yourself up for the different viewpoints that you know that people are going to throw at you; I love the comparison that you did.

    Thank you for your opinion

But I think you are wrong. Have you ever noticed that when the conservatives are in power, the economy goes down, and the middle class is less empowered? Have you ever noticed that we don't have universal health care [every other major nation in the world does]? Have you ever noticed that conservatives are "haters", and start wars at the drop of a hat? Did you not ever see that liberals try peaceful solutions first? Did you ever wonder why we invaded Iraq?

Thank God times are changing. We need a lot of relief from the administration in power now [goodbye, George W. Bush].

If I recall, the economy wasn't that great during the Carter administration, and Carter was a democrat. Conservatives are not "haters" any more than anyone else, but liberals cry "hater!" at anyone who disagrees with them, and make accusations of racism at the drop of a hat, while at the same time condescend to minorities as though they were children. Liberals try to muzzle free speech, and make everyone but themselve more vulnerable to crime and coercive government. Do you have any idea how many "gun control" advocates are themselves gun owners? Ted Kennedy tops that list. Liberals are always trying to outlaw or ban or regulate something. why can't they just leave poeple alone? Liberals seek peaceful solutions? say that in Somalia or Bosnia. it was Clinton who got us in those wars. and we had even less business there than in Iraq.
I agree with you about Bush tho... the man is an imbecile!

    I loved this piece!

How bold and brave of you to do!
Smart move to write it simply and TIGHT, especially if
you don't want a Black eye or two in your comments! lol
WHAT REALLY STRIKES ME IS THE MESSAGE and how
FINALLY...someone has the bold strength to TRY &DEFINE
    it!!
PERHAPS THIS IS WHY AMERICA IS SUCH A MESS RIGHT NOW!

The conservatives ARE IN FACT IN POWER RIGHT NOW, and
the last 8 years have been absolute HELL.
the LIBERALS as you call them are still distant to you. ones's you don't understand..

    WE the OTHERS...who
    fit INBETWEEN THE LINES.
    .....are NOW GOING TO TAKE
CHARGE......because the truth is in the BOTH OF THEM!

Now, won't THAT be refreshing! We bring respect and ACTION

    together!

    WE will get things done,

not fighting the perceived beliefs or being one or the other

anylonger any more!    Great Job POET  GREAT JOB!

It seems you are a conservative, but that aside, it was a very interesting pros/cons comparison. I like the set up of the couplets, and I like the comparisons made. They show the opinions you hold of the two groups and what you see through your eyes of their actions. I liked the poem, and keep up the good work!

Ah… alas someone that has the courage to compare things
That most ppl don’t. I love this. It’s a great contrast to the normal
Poems you read on this website. Definitely thought provoking. This is really
Really well written. I like the way you put it all together so that the flow wasn’t
Awkward. Great write, thanks for sharing your opinions with us all.
