I want to hold your hand and count each little finger,
Tickle your feet and wiggle your toes.
I want to hold your hand through the memories that linger,
Calm all of your fears and soothe all of your woes.
I want to hold your hand on the first day of school,
Put your artwork on the fridge, save all the valentines.
I want to hold your hand when you're a teen so cool,
Your first kiss, your first breakup, the rough times.
I want to hold your hand on your first day at college.
experience the memories that have been oh so grand.
I want to hold your hand rest assured in the knowledge,
That everything you are is because I held your hand.
