Love and Hate

How and when do you first understand what love is?
How do you know it's love?
Is love when you first hug your mum or your dad?
When you wake up from nightmares were they weren't there anymore?
Is it when your eating a new food and tastebud melt with desire?
Or when you want so badly for your team to win?
Is it when you dedicate your life to something or someone, because you can't imagine doing anything else or being with anyone else?
Is it so different from hate?
Without hate could there be love?

How and when do you first understand what hate is?
How do you know it's hate?
Is hate when you argue with your mum or your dad?
When you fear that the argument might never stop is that hate?
Is it when you won't eat the food your given because you don't like that food?
Do you hate that food?
What if it was the only food on earth?
Would you hate it then?
Or is it when your enemy gets the upper hand and wins you at something you admire?
Do you hate them? Are you not happy for them?

Is it when you dedicate your life to something or someone and you lose that or they hurt you?
Do you really really hate them?
Or is it because you love them so much that you hate them because it hurts too much to love them?
Without love could there be hate?

I wrote this because I was questioning myself.
This seemed to be the answer. Even though they are just questions.

Truth is that the line between these two emotions often tend to morph and become quite blurred. In my opinion you cannot hate unless you have loved. Think about the energy it takes to hate someone almost the same energy expended to love them as well.

Personally speaking I could not continue to hate the one I loved. I have tried so hard but I have found that it was killing me. I had to make peace with it

I loved the poem, it answered as much as it questioned and it makes the reader use their thinking powers..smiling... good work here!
