Glasyalabolas: Locust Lord

Homicide, a feathered touch
upon shoulder unsuspecting,
sparks unbound rage uncontrolled,
that burns ‘ere death is given.

Truths past, present and future,
discerning information long hidden,
if but you choose to listen
to his whispers in your ears.

Invisible to the eye of mankind,
go forth, learn all the secrets,
set brother against brother,
or place enemies in arms as lovers.

These are the gifts that may be bound
from the rising Locust Lord,
who will gladly abide with thee,
if you are worthy of truth and respect.

Glasya-Labolas, a demon you are named,
marked forever with the bitter spite
of a spiritual lie, thoughtless and ignorant,
let the truth be freed, my truly DAEMON friend.

I have felt your rage mixed with mine,
in bewilderment, I saw the truths you spoke unfold,
surprised, I felt your compassion’s touch,
never in eternity, can I forget

the roar of your shout and the sound of your laughter.

Author notes

The subject of this piece is Glasyalabolas, who is listed in the Keys of Solomon as one of the 72 goetic demons. He is considered a President of Hell.

Other reference resources include Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, various other old grimoires, lists and esorteric texts.

As I said, he is considered a demon amongst Abrahamic religions, though I personally have a completely different view on what is often described as "demon" (and no, I am not a satanist). That is why I use and emphasize the word "daemon", it is a huge distinction.

This particular daemon means a lot to me, for various reasons, including that he has been somewhat of a muse to me, of sorts, and often I use his name as my user name. The "Locust Lord" part of this piece is reverence to something else I found online, surmising that Glasyalabolas, although, not directly named, is important part of the book of Revelation, speculating that he is the "demon" that releases the plague of locusts.

Anyways, I have rambled enough, sorry for the long Author's Notes.

Very, very good. I am ecstatic to see that someone listed the Keys of Solomon as one of their references. I was not expecting this. You did an excellent job with the poem, as well as making it personal, as far as being your muse. Thank you very much for entering and best of luck in the contest.

Thank you very much. Been using the Keys for a while as a good reference resource, along with Pseudomonarchia Daemonum.

As for Glasya himself, often he has a stronger (though often understated) influence on my writing than I let on, often, with some very specific pieces, it's like it isn't me writing at all, I just sit back and let him take over.
