Distant Dream

A distant Dream
Far
Out of reach
Yet stood so close
That I can feel
Each vibration
Of your voice

Hands
A millimeter apart
But no nearer to touching
Than if the Grand Canyon
Were between

Why do we cope
With self restriction
When the longing
Is for pain
Brought
Not through lack of forsight,
But through the foolish belief
That I could make you change

Common sense
It takes control
The moment passes
I remember
The reason for restraint
The reason for my silence
That dreams often are
Just that

Dreams

Ilusions

Figments of our imagination
That won't come true

Oh, there was a great question in this poem! "Why do we cope
    With self restriction
    When the longing
Is for pain?" That was remarkable! It is one question with a million answers to ponder. This poem did an amazing job of driving thought into the mind's atmosphere! Great job!
