You and I were the kings and queens of an age
We had it all
Beauty, intelligence-
The flow of eloquence
You were a sugarcube of sweetness
That glint in your eye
I now realise- 'twas not kindness
But bitterness
With cigarette in mouth
You were Tallulah bankhead
Sharp, the picture of elegence
"'Dahling" was all you said
You were a flower- a rose
Who brought me on a magnificent ride
But as time went on
The rose slowly withered and died
Now when our eyes meet
All I see is deceit

I like it but it really didn't fulfill my subject matter. Thank you for entering my contest.
