The D.C. Bum

I thought it amusing
a man of an identity crisis
could be a rich fiend
and a bum on the streets of Washington D.C.
all at the same time
fifteen hundred dollars a day
and people actually endowed him with money
never caustic, always friendly
a pillar of intellectual oxymorons
the rich bum
his belly never empty
the tourists pay him well
and at the end of the day
he jumps in his Mercedes Benz
many would think him insipid
but that is only because he looks like a transient
well, by day at least

That's very interesting and funny, all at the same time. I guess anyone will do anything for a scam and for the green stuff. Great poem! I was certainly educated. Thank you for your comments on "Requiem" - meant a lot to me, since I have taken two years of Classical and one year of Christian Latin and I do know where to put it That was nice of you to point that out Hehe. Thanks!

ty thank you. Well, I thought when my stepbrother told me about it....I was shocked!!! This guy makes money looking like a bum and just gets in a Mercedes Benz when he is done.

And the funny thing is...DC police cannot do anything about it. There are too many bums like him doing the same thing and there just is not enough police to "fight the bums." (what a funky thought...."fighting bums")

thank you for reading my piece. I very much appreciate your time.

Very good poem, I'd say. It has a tongue-in-cheek kind of surprise at the end.

Words used very well!!! Thank you for your entry and welcome to AllPoetry!

Well in some ways this is inspiring! There use to be a guy where I went to college in the UK he'd play the accordian and he was a millionare, use to stand there playing like he was blind, then he got caught!
    Good Luck
